CARE.COM LAUNCHES BABYSITTER PAY CALCULATOR
New Feature Tells Families How Much to Pay for Child Care
Waltham, MA--August 12, 2008-- Care.com, the premier source of trustworthy family care options, today announced a new feature that helps parents calculate an appropriate pay rate for their babysitter. The Babysitter Pay Calculator allows parents to determine a suggested hourly rate for what to pay a babysitter based on where they live, how many children they have and the sitter's level of experience.
Care.com's Babysitter Pay Calculator provides suggested hourly rates for babysitters in a given city by analyzing salary data supplied by caregivers in that area. Care.com also provides guidance on additional factors that typically impact babysitter pay rates. In addition to geographic location, family size and years of experience, babysitters who help with laundry or dishes, pick up groceries or drive kids to and from appointments often warrant higher pay.
"Every family's needs are different, so it is difficult to provide a universal standard when it comes to paying your babysitter," said Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder and CEO of Care.com. "We created the Babysitter Pay Calculator to help parents better understand the factors that come into play with a babysitter's hourly rate. A family with four kids in New York City will probably need to pay more than a mom with one child living in a more rural area."
Parents can use the Babysitter Pay Calculator to find suggested hourly rates for babysitters in their area by visiting http://www.care.com/childcare.
In addition to the Babysitter Pay Calculator, Care.com provides child care listings for babysitters, nannies and day care centers across the country. Launched in May 2007, Care.com helps families to find babysitters, nannies, pet sitters, senior caregivers, housekeepers and tutors through a national network of trusted caregivers. All caregiver profiles are reviewed by experienced moms, and members can run free background checks, listen to recorded references and view caregiver ratings. These aspects of the service provide users an added layer of confidence and security when making important decisions regarding family care needs.
