I found Shawn on Care.com. I called her and she came to my home so we could meet and discuss our needs. A family member was having surgery in another State and we weren't sure how long we'd be gone. We did, however, know our cat, Bandit, needed someone to care for him while we were away. Upon meeting Shawn, we felt comfortable with her. She's smart, has Christian values, and is very knowledgeable about pet care. We were away for a little over 2 weeks, when we originally told her we thought we'd only be gone 1 week. I talked with her by phone and email every few days, and she had no problem caring for Bandit longer than planned. She came to our home twice a day to feed him and clean out his cat pan. She also would stay around and give him attention whether that meant petting him or brushing him each day. He was in great condition when we got back, but maybe a bit sad Ms. Shawn wouldn't be coming to see him everyday. ;). We've also called Shawn for short notice over-night trips and she's come and cared for Bandit again. We are fairly new to the State, only lived here about 6 months, but we feel very fortunate to find Shawn. We'll certainly continue to use her services.
