My experience caring for pets comes from being a life long animal lover & pet owner. My family has had dogs ever since I was little. I've had previous roommates who have had cats so I'm very familiar with cats as well.

I'm currently the proud pet parent of two amazing dogs: Gus, 7 yr old purebred German Shepherd, and Bella, 1.5 yr old purebred malamute. I've had Gus since he was 2 yrs old & Gus wasn't entirely sure about Bella at first but now they're great companions. They fight like brother and sister over toys and attention, but Bella adores Gus and Gus is very protective of Bella. Gus has taught Bella how to be a good watchdog; she doesn't quite understand the purpose of looking out the window is to do surveillance because she'd rather watch the birds and squirrels. Bella has taught Gus the joy of chewing on a bone for hours, before he'd never had any interest but if she has a bone he has to have one too. Whereas Gus would rather be inside lying at my feet, Bella loves to be outside. Don't get me wrong, Bella loves to cuddle and get attention but she also loves smelling, digging, chasing bugs and sprinting around in her large backyard. They're the best of both worlds, both loving dogs and constant entertainment.

As you can tell, my dogs are both my babies & best friends. We go for daily walks when the weather is decent. Since both of my dogs have thick coats, we also love playing outside in the snow. I actually bought my first house because I wanted the dogs to have their own backyard. I also had more specifications for the backyard then I did the house (strong & sturdy fence, no dangerous plants, plenty of room to play, trees for shade, etc.).

While I've had no formal experience as a pet care giver, I've spent my life caring for my own animals, as well as friends & families animals. I think the best caregiver is one who truly loves & cares for the animals they take care of. Otherwise, it's just a job. While professionalism is very important & I pride myself on being a professional, this type of service requires a great deal of patience & caring. I'm very loving & take great care of my animals, I've never met a dog or cat that I couldn't bond with & who didn't love me!
