I have cared for the pets of others throughout the years, including a variety of animals such as cats, dogs, and even fish. Some of those animals had special needs, such as requiring the administering of medications, and others were perfectly normal. Most importantly, I am someone who has my own animal family. I have two cats, both of whom have birthdays rapidly approaching. My oldest will be 12 and my youngest will have his first birthday! I also have a hamster, who is 1 1/2, and is in early retirement, as I cannot have her as a class pet in my current position (I'm a teacher and she was a class pet for my former classroom. I have a carrier for her and she would travel between home and school, so I think she finds her new life a little boring, as she seems anxious to get out the moment she hears my voice nearby her and will come out to greet me.). I also have a betta fish, but there is less to say on him, mostly as he's a new addition and has not yet shown me any quirks to brag on...
I love my animals and, honestly, would be at a loss without them, particularly the cats. I am a cat person, but I also love dogs (I have always been a cat lover and my little brother the dog lover, despite us both loving the other animal, even with our leanings.). I have spent quite a bit of time around dogs, cats, fish, mice, a hamster, a rabbit, crabs, and even triops. (During my student teaching, my cooperating teacher shared my love of animals, so I spent the year chasing after the spoiled rabbit who did not like returning to the cage at the end of the day).
My pets are important to me and I do a lot to try to give back to them. Very few want to know the process I went through to find dry cat food that was high quality, met nutritional requirements, and also met my senior cat's preference. Then again, my current set-up takes a little explanation, although it is really quite simple. My point being is that I care a lot about my little ones and I take their care very seriously. I cannot always give them what I want, such as a really cool cat tree, but I do my best to give them what I can to ensure that they are happy and healthy. I take caring for animals very seriously.
