I am currently studying Biology at Purchase College. After completing my education in 2015, I plan on continuing onto veterinary school. In order to do this I need experience working with animals and I am very interested in doing so. This past fall, I started volunteering at The Bronx Zoo Reptile House. It has been a really great experience working hands on with the animals and learning a lot about reptiles and amphibians. When animals are injured or sick I also get the opportunity to assist the veterinarian who takes care of them. Growing up I have had multiple pets in my house including two dogs and two to three cats at one time; it was always my responsibility to feed, walk, and wash our pets. When I took an interest in studying science in order to become a veterinarian I decided it would be valuable to see what it is truly like to be one so I took an opportunity to shadow doctors at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital where I followed them through their days, viewing appointments and watching multiple surgeries.

My other qualifications include:
Merit Scholarship - For excellent academic achievements.

Mid-Hudson Kennel Club Scholarship - For pursuing a career with animals.
