I started pet sitting for a family friend in 2005. Her miniature Airedale terrier, Phoenix, had diabetes. I also cared for her rabbit, button. I gave Phoenix his daily insulin, and as he got older, I gave him the eye and ear drops he needed. I also picked him up or dropped him off at the vet. when needed. I have also looked after cats for someone I met at the Humane Society, and for another family friend. I did have to make and give a special kind of green drink for an elderly cat, through a syringe.

I have been volunteering at the Marin Humane Society since 2003. I started out with the small companion animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, etc.) After a few years of that, I moved up to cat Pet Pal. I played with and socialized the shelter cats. Then I moved on to become a dog pet pal, where we play with and walk the shelter dogs. I have walked many different breeds from Chihuahua's to Great Danes! I still am an active dog pet pal today. I also took a dog training and behavior class from dog trainer, Trish K. I received my level one dog training/dog behavior certificate. It was a couple of years ago, but I have the framed certificate somewhere around the house.

Then of course there are the years of personal pet care. We always had multiple cats in the house, and I have always had two dogs. I also used to had a Bearded Lizard and countless fish. I am not afraid of lizards and snakes, but I will not touch spiders! I am comfortable with all sizes of dogs and all breeds of cats. Since I am currently unemployed, I am only willing to go to Mill Valley or Corte Madera for overnight stays because of gas money.
