I learned to care for large dogs when I acquired a Canine Companion for Independence for my daughter with special needs. Our family was given a Golden Lab, along with extensive training. In addition, I volunteered for grooming the assistance dogs in the kennels, who were undergoing training to become CCI dogs. I learned that all dogs can be trained by voice alone, and that there are no bad dogs, just ones that haven't been trained yet. Animals are great because of their unconditional love. I don't mind getting dirty and smelly, and I know how to bathe, groom, hair-dry, nail-clip, etc. I also have a large van and will travel.
