I have been rescuing animals for most of my life. My very first experience in the field was when I was 6 years-old and walked dogs at the local shelter in Warwick, R. I. (I am now 41 years-old.) During that time, I won first place for my kitty (Blackie) in the City's Cat Show. In 1985, there was a hurricane in R. I. and I was out rescuing displaced/injured critters from the storm. Until my family and I moved to FL. in Oct, 2007, I ran and operated a cat rescue that included domesticated, feral and semi-feral cats, neonatal, pregnant and senior cats as well. It wasn't unusual for us to rescue a critter of a different species, but for the most part it was cats. I was on call 24/7 and have made emergency rescues in the middle of the night, transports etc. I also have people skills as I was the first person that people and/or adopters spoke with when they called or met with. My experience includes, but is not limited to: bottle feeding, peeing/pooping and burping infants, medicating/ vaccinating and treating cats/kittens for numerous health and routine conditions; I also have extensive knowledge in taming feral cats/kittens, special needs kitties and numerous health issues and diseases in felines; along with limited experience in health issues with dogs. At this time, I am attempting to further my education in the animal field. Although, at the moment the training is basically book work, I expect the "hands-on" to begin soon. Before recently returning to RI(where I was raised)to care for my aging parents, I worked full-time for a feral cat sanctuary in Naples, Fl. I am now trying to return to my animal and rescue care work.
