“ Growing up I had a fear of dogs and looking back I'm not really sure why. But that all changed when my parents adopted a collie mix, Jackie. Jackie was my kind of dog, you would whistle and off she would go; in the opposite direction! I did not have to worry about this dog chasing and biting me. Well that is until the day that would change my whole life.

The only thing that separated our house from the road...

Growing up I had a fear of dogs and looking back I'm not really sure why. But that all changed when my parents adopted a collie mix, Jackie. Jackie was my kind of dog, you would whistle and off she would go; in the opposite direction! I did not have to worry about this dog chasing and biting me. Well that is until the day that would change my whole life.

The only thing that separated our house from the road was a side walk, and the only thing that separated our front yard from the back was a white picket fence that was missing a gate. Well one day I was given orders to go sweep the side walk and after being assured that Jackie was being held by my dad in the back yard I obediently went to sweeping the side walk. I was intensely preoccupied with the nice job I was doing on the side walk, and before I knew it here came this golden horse-like creature, to the eyes of a terrified 11-year-old, coming full speed toward me; no time for whistling now. I immediately threw down my boom and fell to the ground with my head bowed waiting for the dreaded attack. But to my surprise I was greeted not with teeth, but a wet nose, fur, and my dad. "See she's not going to bite you, rub her." said my dad. And the rest is history. 22 years later and I am still working with animals, dogs and cats. My last two years of high school I worked in the kennels at one of the local vets. I wanted to be a vet. After two years in the Animal Science program in college, my lung doctor suggested that I change my career. So I did. Instead of becoming a vet I went to grooming school and got my certificate of completion in pet styling and pet therapy.

Upon completion I apprenticed and worked for groomers and vets in Dalton, Chattanooga, Calhoun, and Atlanta. Then in June of 2000 I opened my own mobile pet grooming salon. After 11 years of operation my health is feeling the effects. So after looking at options that would allow me to continue to work with my passion- animals I thought of offering different services to the same pet, like dog walking, canine massage, transportation, pet sitting, help administering meds, feeding and watering and still a little grooming. None of which are new services, but somewhat new to my area. My goal now is get a few loyal customers and give them the best service possible. So please don't find me offensive when you find that I am very selective about the clients I accept.
