Hello, my name is Arielle. Since I was very young, I have been surrounded by cats and dogs. My family has always been a cat family, but I always jumped to the chance to visit my closest friend and her beautiful black Lab. We rescued a mother cat we named Jessica and her four kittens when I was 7 years old and later a small black kitten named Wilbur when I was 10. I cared for them and began to think of them as my own children as I watched them grow. We cared for them for nearly a decade before they both passed away from natural causes.

Last summer, my dad and I rescued an adorable Chihuahua/Shepard mix from his abusive previous owner. The poor guy weighed no more than 8 lbs, had a shattered leg and could barely walk. We decided to name him Dugg after the dog from Pixar's "Up".

Every day for the two weeks before I had to return to college, I personally walked, groomed, fed and cuddled him. I discovered that he had several rotten and broken teeth, so dry food was not going to work for him. I therefore placed his food in water to soak, and he was finally able to eat.

Now a year later, he's finally running, barking, eating and playing happily, thanks to the care and love my dad has shown him. Seeing him able to live again was definitely one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had.

Since both of my cats passed away three years ago, and my dad lives on another coast with Dugg, I've always wanted to adopt another pet. But until my fiance and I move into a place that allows pets, I would love the chance to care for your cherished friends as if they were my own.
