Winnie is short for Winston Churchill! He's a half Ridgeback and half Lab big old baby. Winnie rules the house and sleeps basically wherever Winnie wants. Winnie eats Iams Chicken and Rice formula for older dogs and likes to be walked twice a day. When he plays ball, we have to remember that it is Mr. Churchill that makes the rules.
He is fully house trained and doesn't eat anything but his own toys. Sometimes, Ridgeback breeds can get an Alpha male streak and go a little ballistic. That's when we talk to him in our "bad dog" voice and it immediately takes control of the situation. I'll say "sit!" in my bad dog voice and it helps him to refocus on another activity. Vocal commands are the only use of discipline we ever use on him because that is all he needs to straighten up and fly right.
