I've had pets most all of my life. I absolutely love dogs, and am fond of most cats. I find these domestic animals ARE family, and if you see them in that way, they just add so much to a life. I'm a caring individual and when I work with animals, they must sense it, because animals are very at ease around me. My last dog, Willie, is a great example of the respect I have for the animals that I have contact with. Willie was losing his hearing, so I read a few books and ended up using my own version of American Sign Language to communicate with him. I taught him two new signs each week-he learned them so eagerly! We were able to communicate this way for many years before he left us. Willie was only one of the many wonderful animals in this world... and if I'm watching your beloved pet, I promise to care for him/her like she was my own!
