I have six children of my own and have loved every minute of caring for them, for the last 26 years. I have cared for many children besides my own, and I treat them as my own. I cuddle and read to them, take them to the park, bake with them and whatever else sounds like fun! They call me Mimi. We have a lot of fun together, but I also like to teach them.

Most of my kids learned to read by age 4. I home-schooled them for nine years, focusing on character training. Most were honor roll students once they got into public school. I am proud to say that my eldest was voted "Most Friendly" at Westview High School!

Two of my children are college graduates. One of my sons is starting his own business at age 19, in Maui. One child has served in the Peace Corps in Africa and is now Residence Director at a college in Colorado. And one is managing a restaurant in Colorado. They are all go-getters, and I love that about them!

I have always made it a priority to have music fill our lives. As a result, my children absolutely love music, and three are self-taught in guitar, piano, ukelele', and percussion instruments. We love music! Everything from classical to big band to Jack Johnson.

Life should be full of adventure and enthusiasm. When the sun is out, we should be out! When there is a park around, we should be there playing in it. Our family vacations were always two or three weeks of camping by the Umpqua River. Those are the memories my kids treasure more than anything!

My kids have grown to be true adventurers, and have traveled and hiked extensively around the United States, Mexico and Central America. They have grown to be loving, respectful, kind-hearted, generous, independent and self-sufficient.

Here is an interesting fact for you: Five of my kids have been hired at Applebee's as hosts and servers. The sixth child is not old enough to work there yet, but the manager says he's already hired. : )
