I hold a bachelors degree in early childhood education and have taught preschool for the past 8 years. I have worked within center programs, Head Start, as a private nanny and most recently in Christian co-ops. I have current Red Cross First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR.
From a personal perspective, I am married for 35 years and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren all under age 5. At one point we had a 5-year-old and three children 3 and under and the baby followed seven years later. I cleaned when the children slept and played with them when they were awake. At they got older, we made games of doing the every day chores together so that there was more time for fun.
Over the years, I have been a Sunday School teacher Vacation Bible school Teacher, Girl Scout leader, room mom, active in Parent/Teacher Organizations, volunteered within the Brighton Band Boosters and have traveled the country with our children while they were involved with travel softball and baseball.
I would love to work a teacher's calendar as that is what works best for my family. Although my children are grown with the youngest being a student at Baldwin Wallace College, I still want a position that allows me to put my family first. I have always felt as a preschool teacher that if I didn't put my family first, I was not being a very good example to my young parents.
I love teaching preschool. I loved being in co-ops and in Head Start. Both allowed me to not only be involved with the children but to be involved with parents as well.
Having grown up on a lake in Indiana, I love being outside. I like my summers hot and my winters cold and filled with snow! I love sand boxes and swing sets, play doh and side walk chalk, books, puzzles, and music. I will blow bubbles, go for walks or simply sit and blow bubbles.
I have been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brighton, where I live for the past 12 years or so. Prior to that my family was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. We have lived in Brighton since August of 1986 with an 8 month spell in Alabama in 1991.
I am willing to drive wherever needed to be find the right position. I can provide a formal resume and references as necessary.
