My experience with caring for children has been on and off. I began baby-sitting school-age children for members of my family at the age of 14. In 2003, I signed up for a regional occupational program at my high school that allowed me to work within elementary schools in Livermore. I was placed at Marilyn Avenue Elementary School for a year. During the first half of the school year, I was placed in a first grade class room as the teaching assistant. I read to the children, helped them sound out words when they read to me, planned special assignments, prepared snacks, and helped with arts and crafts. During the second half of the year, I worked in a third grade classroom. I participated in their physical education activities, helped with homework, and planned a history lesson. In the summer of 2008, I began caring for an 8-month-old for two months while his mother was away. I fed him according to his grandmother's schedule, administered daily asthma medication, gave him baths, changed diapers, entertained him, and put him down for naps. I baby-sat a 5-year-old for a neighbor for six months. I prepared lunch, walked to the park with her and her dog, played with dolls, drew pictures as gifts, and practiced Spanish with "Dora the Explorer". For this family, I would occasionally do overnights and weekends. Each one of my experiences with child care were very special and rewarding to me.

I enjoy being outdoors when the weather is nice. I love reading and anything having to do with arts and crafts. I'm also a big fan of Sponge Bob Squarepants.
