I am a 24-year-old Christian mother who just moved back to the area and am looking to watch another baby within my home starting this December 2011. My husband is a school teacher at West End Elementary and we have a 2-month-old son. We have a smoke free home within a safe neighborhood in Easley, SC. We have ADT security as well. Your child would have access to Elijah's toys, MANY books, CDs, and equipment (exersaucer, jumperoo, bouncer, floor gyms, and swing). I also have extra equipment that I bought from when I previously watched children within our home in NC. This way your child will always have his/her own things as well. The only thing you would need to provide are any special toys your child may like, bottles, wipes, diapers, diaper rash cream, change of clothes, and food. Tummy, reading, and interactive time are all utilized currently within our home. As Elijah gets older, we will have a time for educating sign language, numbers, letters, etc. I would love to take the children for walks as well! I really want our son to have a playmate to grow up with, so, this would need be a child within a year of his age. My hours of availability are 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Occasionally, I will work on a weekend, but would like to stay on the same schedule as my husband.
I have professional experience working with elderly, developmentally disabled/mentally challenged adults, and children with behavioral issues. My titles included mental health associate and rehabilitation tech. I worked for the YMCA as a children's counselor (paid and volunteer) for two years. I have also been a full-time nanny for four families and can provide them as references. I have served in children's ministry overseeing mission trips to Brazil and Bolivia as well as teaching Sunday school and leading vacation bible school music. I have served as a youth leader overseeing discipleship groups and retreats also.
I am CPR and First Aid certified. I have had five years of Spanish and know some basics of sign language. I also have over 100 hours towards a Psychology degree in which my focus was on how people learn and develop. I am more than happy to teach your child languages, develop their motor skills, and introduce them to music and art! I do not believe in sitting your child in front of a TV all day to watch "educational" programs. Children learn much better hands-on, and I believe you can make learning fun! I believe when we take time to interact with children, we can learn and grow in so many ways. If interested after looking over my experience, please send me an email along with your hourly/weekly rate you're seeking, the number of children you have, and your expectations. References available! Thank you so much.
