I am writing this review and I'm not one to write reviews often but definitely feel that it is important for other people who consider Tonya. She came to her first interview with us and was amazing-to the point that I scheduled her to meet my husband (because I did most prelim interviews myself) right away. He was equally impressed and basically offered her the job on the spot. However, we require a background check of all of anyone we would hire and a DMV check if they have mentioned wanted to take our son to activities such as story time at the library or his swim classes. With that being said, we told her the date that she'd start provided the background check was fine, etc. She obliged, or so we thought. We received an email on how she would not submit for a full background check as she felt that was none of our business and that she would only give us her prelim check and she gave us her Driver's license number. She also said though that we made her feel like we didn't trust her. I, feeling bad, rushed to assure her that this was just part of our hiring process in looking out for our child. She said she'd send over the preliminary check. She did not, I had to call Care.com to get it released (which the prelim was fine). However, I emailed her and said that I was able to receive the preliminary check and that we chose not to run DMV because we are just not at that level of comfort with anyone aside from us driving our child around at this time. She flew off the handle in an email saying how she's never been so offended and anyone can choose to raise their children however they want but that we were out of line etc. and she no longer wanted to work for us. This was quite the change from the Mary Poppins interview she had given us. I write this review because I think every parent should do their diligence in background checks and DMV checks for their kids if people are caring for them and someone is unwilling to go through that process definitely concerns me as to what their intentions truly are. The experience left us in a position where we were really uneasy even considering a nanny anymore. Fortunately we did find someone great who was willing to go through our hiring process and we learned we were not unreasonable but good parents for checking. Although her references and resume are glowing, I'd consider Tonya with extreme caution if she is unwilling to submit for background or DMV checks still.

We interviewed Tonya and she and thought she would be a great fit for our family. We told her we would like her to be our nanny and even had her over to the house to review our son's schedule and care needs. Her first shift was to be that coming Monday, and when she left she even said "See you on Monday." However, she never showed up, didn't answer her phone, and never called back. It was my first day back to work after Maternity leave too, so she really left us in a terrible position with no one to care for out son. We still have not heard from her, it has been a week. The only reason I gave her 2 stars instead of one is because she is very qualified.
