My experience caring for children started at a young age. I volunteered a few summers in a row at VBS. I was basically a monitor, assisting with arts and crafts, preparing lunch(sandwiches mostly). Around the age of 15 I started babysitting a 6-month-old little girl a few days a week for a summer at VBS nursery. This involved feeding, burping, changing, putting to sleep, etc. The following summer I babysat two girls ages 4 and 7. This was the first babysitting job that I worked at the customers house. I worked Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. This involved preparing meals, supervising actives, etc.
At the end of high school I babysat/tutored a 9-year-old a few times each week for a summer. I also soon began babysitting him and his 6-year-old brother a few times.

I've had a few babysitting jobs in between, babysitting children from 6 months to 11-year-olds. These jobs were temp. or fill in jobs. All the children I've babysat each have very different personalities and each of them taught me something. One thing that's for sure is that I love children. I love being around their positivity and energy. I have many little cousins and I enjoy being around them and being a role model to them. I love being around children for so many reasons. I love babysitting them more because I know that they're children and they need to be treated like they are, not treated like adults, where people expect them to know so much and not be naive to things. Children are like sponges and they need to ask questions to take in knowledge and I have the patience to deal with them.
