I started caring for my younger siblings while I was still basically a child myself. I spent my weekends, and earned some money by, babysitting for neighbors throughout my teen years. I later had two children of my own then spent a few years supporting my family by subcontracting as a subsidized daycare provider through the Fairfax County Office of Children. I have helped raise nieces and nephews and cared for friends' and neighbors' children and now help raise three of my grandchildren. In short, I have been caring for children all my life and can't think of a better way to spend my time! However, two of the children are school age and gone most of the day. I do have a 5-year-old at home during the day but she doesn't have the socialization I wish she had by being the only child here but, alas, she will be starting school herself in fall of 2012. I would love to offer my service and experience to others. I love having a meaningful way to fill my days as well as being able to offer the working parent a safe, healthy, loving place for their child{ren}.
