When talking to someone over the phone such as I did with this person I always conduct a phone interview with the person about the position. Questions usually are about hours, pay rate, location and duties of the position. I base my hourly rate on how far I have to travel, duties, hours and usually with the price of gas being almost $4. 00 a gallon that usually has a big factor in the job. I however was not rude to this person over the phone as she proclaims I was but did simply remind her of minimum wage rate in Pennsylvania being $7. 25 an hour and she was gonna have a hard time finding somebody for only $5. 00 an hour. I simply made the statement and recommendation that she find a high school student near or in her development of her residence that wouldn't mind watching her son for $5. 00 an hour. This is where she didn't like what I said and hung up on me. I am not the type of person to be rude and hang up on someone over the phone like she did but do have a right to voice my opinion when it comes to negotiating an hourly rate. I apologize to anyone if this confrontation over the phone with this person came off on the wrong foot but I was not being rude. I was just simply stating my opinion in a very nice yet professional manner over the phone. If you would still be interested in talking or meeting with me please contact me.
