As the eldest of three children, I have been a babysitter since age 13. My favorite part about child care is getting to know the kid(s) and their unique perspective on life. Occasionally, I babysit a 2-year-old. She is constantly asking what household objects do and do not need batteries. I find this hysterical! My experience with child care ranges between newborns and 15-year-olds. My responsibilities have been changing diapers, cooking, feeding, entertaining, picking up from school, helping with homework, bathing, and reading stories before bedtime.

Some examples of my past clients:

A 4-year-old boy. His younger brother is 2-years-old. I usually come over to play with them, make them dinner and put them to bed. The 4 year old has an elaborate bedtime routine that involves brushing teeth first, watching a television show and then reading at least two books. The 2 year old gets his diaper changed, teeth brushed (he doesn't have the best dexterity, yet) and a song sung to him before bed.

And also, an 8-year-old girl with a 5-year-old brother. I pick them up from school, feed them a snack and then take them to swim lessons. At the swim lessons I change them into swimsuits and entertain one while the other swims then vice versa. The kids and I have also spent days together walking to parks, comic book stores and enjoying lunch picnics. The boy likes it when I give him piggy back rides. I also feed, entertain, bathe and tuck them into bed on nights their parents go out.

Also, a 5-month-old girl. I warm her bottles, feed, burp, and change her diapers. She likes it when I sing to her and prefers her yellow blanket when napping.

And a 15-year-old boy. When his mother takes business trips for multiple days I come over and act as a surrogate mother. I cook and transport him to and from school. At night I help with homework and sleep in the guest room. We've become good friends and he's like a little brother to me.
