Hi,
My name is Tiana. I am 26 years old. I started babysitting at around the age of 14 for my neighbors as well as my younger brother. In 2003 I was accepted to the University of Rhode Island where I began to study and earn a double bachelors degree in Elementary Education & Communication Studies. I was hired as a teacher assistant at the University of Rhode Island Child Development Center. I worked alongside teachers, professors and other students to create a well balanced and enriched curriculum for children 3 through 5. During my college years, I worked many semesters in different school districts around Rhode Island especially inner city schools. I worked with grades K-4 in districts such as Pawtucket, Warwick, Cranston, Providence & South Providence. I have worked with children with learning disabilities such as ADHD, Aspergers disease and autism. I also have many portfolio with my work and lesson plans that I created while at URI. In 2004 I began as a teacher assistant in Woonsocket at Hamlet Learning Center working with ages 3 through 10. I have learned to adapt to all types of parents and children. I love to have fun and to learn. It is very important to me to create an environment of consistency for the children and working alongside parents to best benefit the children. I have a 3-year-old daughter, Ava who is such a joy to be around. She loves other children, she is very smart. We do activities such as story hour at the library, we visit museums and she is also involved in extra curricular activities such as gymnastics, ballet and tap. I am very responsible and hardworking but at the same time energetic, loving and fun. I also have experience caring for the elderly. My grandfather was often very ill and I assisted with daily chores and being of aid to him when in need.
