Profile of Tara V.

Full-Time, 6 Years of Experience

I graduated from Cal Poly in 2007, with a B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development. I took and excelled in classes like, parent child relations, childhood learning, and Behavior mod. in Children. I plan on staying in the area and going to San Jose State University in the fall to get my Masters in Education with a credential in school counseling. In addition to my efforts in the classroom, my college experience includes a variety of jobs that demonstrate my creativity with children, my leadership ability with children, and my understanding of how to have fun with children.
My most recent experience with children is in the classroom. I am currently a substitute teacher in San Luis Obispo. I substitute for a variety of grades and ages, and love them all. I look forward to spending time with the students and can't get enough of watching them learn and grow. My most notable and some of my most memorable experiences with children is when I was a camp counselor and backpack guide. I spent the summer with children from ages 8-17 all day everyday. It was a blast. I led hikes, ropes courses, bible studies, and was a mentor and leader for my cabin for the week. It was such an amazing experience. Besides the baby-sitting in high school, I really feel that my experience started in my second year in college when I was a youth group leader for junior high and high school for my church. Here, I was able to be in the student's lives in more way then one, building deep connections and friendships.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I love baking! I try to use a new recipe every week! Also, I love to scrapbook and take pictures. Most of my time though is spent outside. I love hiking, biking, surfing, and rock climbing.
