I have been babysitting for the past 14 years working with children of all ages, from newborn to about 17 years-old. I have worked in orphanages around the world, working with multiple children at once. I assisted in bible studies, games, and songs that we taught the children. In college, I had the opportunity to volunteer with a child care facility on my campus, that worked exclusively with children with disabilities. There, I learned basic sign language skills that we used with our toddlers, although now, I am not as familiar with that language. I also have experience volunteering with an after school program where we assisted young children with their homework before allowing them to be a part of the afternoon activities and games. Recently, I was working full time at a child care learning center, where I primarily working with a class of 3-year-old children. It surprised me as to how eager the children were to learn and how smart my class was. After working at the learning center for a year, I had to leave due to the fact that I was accepted for Graduate School in Social Work here in Baltimore. I love children and seek to be a part of their growth, hoping to assist in bringing up a healthy and impacting generation.
