I am a 46-year-old mother of 5 (ages 25, 18, 15, 5 and 3). I was in my 3rd year of teaching Pre-school Special Needs in 2006 when God unexpectedly blessed us with 2 more children in my 40s, a 4th son and then 2 years later their sister. Instead of continuing teaching, I decided the best decision for me was to go back to daycare once again. :)
This time around, however, I have decided to incorporate some of my classroom activities into my daycare daily routine, i. e. circle time, puzzle/book time, different centers. The little ones really seem to benefit from watching the older ones, therefore, learning it quicker!
For parents of newborns to 1-year-olds, I supply a daily journal to keep the parents informed of their babies day and what it consisted of, i. e. feedings, dirty diapers, naps, etc. For the parents of all children I supply a monthly newsletter to bring the parents attention to what we are doing as a group, learning or playing, progresses, holidays, parties coming up or special days such as "P. J. days", "Show and Tell Days", etc. I also supply parents of children who are eating table food a monthly menu so that parents will know what their child will be eating every day for lunch which helps to cut down on duplicating for dinners at home! I also like to take pictures periodically of fun things such as kids interacting in playtime or special parties so that the children may have a picture book to share with Mommy and Daddy or Grandma and Grandpa to show off their friends and tell them about their play time at Miss Tami's. :)
I love to play outside as much as possible, from riding bikes on our cement court to playing on the jungle gym swing set or jumping on our enclosed trampoline in the fenced in back yard! And when it gets hot enough we LOVE to play in the sprinklers, play with water balloons, or swim in the wading pool on the back porch!
I do NOT take my job lightly. I understand I am responsible for taking care of people's most cherished possessions, your children, something that can never be replaced. Precious gifts from God.
As a Mother myself, I understand and know what it means to be able to go to work and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that your child is in a safe, happy and loving environment while you are there.
Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is more educational than any college out there!
Please feel free to contact me! :)
