I have been working with children most of my professional life. I worked for two years teaching 4-year-old's and another two years with 2-year-old's. During those years, I also did after care work with ages from 2-12. I have been working as a private nanny. I taught potty training and met with a 100% success rate of my 2-year-old students. During my time as a teacher, I used a system which teaches at a slightly advanced level. I love to make learning a game. It is a personal challenge to make school work as entertaining as I can. If it is a game to them, children are more apt to remember it. We went through the alphabet, numbers, colors, phonics (with the older children), shapes, poems, songs and Bible verses. There were always themes to my lesson plans, so perhaps one week we would be learning letter "Ee" and learn about the elephant and other animals who would live around them. I also taught American Sign Language to go along with poems and songs. At the end of our first year, my 2-year-old's could sign the alphabet, several animals, family member titles, etc. I am also a huge fan of crafts. They are one of my personal hobbies and I love getting children involved with them! I try to segue it into our lesson for the day, keeping with the earlier elephant example, we may make trunks, or big elephant ears.
I overall adore children and being able to work with them! I am always free to be asked any questions you may have.
