I've volunteered to do VBS, vocational bible school, at my church for two years when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school. I worked with children from 1st to 6th grade. I took care of them, making sure they did not wander off anywhere, feeding them at appropriate times, and making sure they had fun while participating at the activities. I like to engage them and encourage them to play with the other kids in the group.

I also worked at Kumon Learning Center during my senior year of high school. I worked with children in kindergarten to the 6th grade. I graded their work and gave them quizzes. A big part of my job involved dealing with children who may or may not listen to me. I really learned how to make the children listen but still be someone who they can talk to and have fun with. I think it is important to have that slight level of authority but also be someone who is on the same level as them.
