My experience caring for young children is expansive. I have two grown children and a young child as well. My degree is in Early Childhood Education. I have run classrooms for children from the age of 0-5. And more recently have been a nanny for 2 children.

My passion comes from what I know about how children develop and the fact that the early years are so very important in laying the groundwork for successful learning. I could go on forever about this but I know that a consistent schedule, a secure loving environment where a child feels safe is vital. If a child can predict and feel secure then they can venture out and explore, consequently learning along the way. They can take risks and learn from those.

Saying these things I also like to have fun with children, meaning I am not so rigid to break up a play date or an activity because our routine indicates it is time. And allowing a child to explore and take risks is important but safety is first in my opinion.

Let me say I am looking for a family that will also welcome my daughter. While my daughter is in school full time, I am her transportation to and from. She is 6 and attends a private school on the West Side of Olympia and there are no buses. So given that school breaks would mean she would be a part of our day. Of course I am going to say she is a very nice girl but really she is. I appreciate what relationships bring to a child's personality, so I really believe this is an asset.

I am more than happy to provide references after a conversation and willing to provide a driving abstract as well as pay for the background check. I drive a new van that has great safety ratings, am a non-smoker who loves animals and enjoy creative things and reading.
