Hello, I'm 23 years old, and I am so excited to learn about you and your family! Currently, I am living in the Boston area, but am relocating to Santa Monica area in September (date is negotiable). I'm hoping to find a full-time nanny job (or combination of part-time nanny jobs) that will be fun, rewarding, and keep me busy. Here in Boston, I happily work 50 hours/week at a mental health and rehabilitation hospital. I started in November 2010 as a Community Residence Counselor on a short-term residential psychiatric unit for boys and girls ages 13 to 19 with emotional difficulties. Just last month, I was promoted to Shift Coordinator on another unit, which deals with more severe cases. At any given time, I have between 10 and 15 kids in my care. This is all to say: I have had some very tough clients, and deal with several at once, so you will find no one as organized, sharp, and cool under pressure/in crisis as I. It should also be noted that, given the kinds of emotional and behavioral delays presented by many of the teenagers, I am in fact well qualified to work with children as young as grade school. Aside from my therapeutic responsibilities, my favorite things about my current job include taking the kids on field trips, helping them with schoolwork, being creative with them laughing with them, cooking with/for them and listening to them when they need a kind ear. I am also very willing and able to hold them to whatever structure is expected in your house (in terms of rules, etc.). And, for the record, I adore animals as well! I am energetic, trustworthy, punctual, understanding, flexible and firm when necessary. I think I am a great fit for many different kinds of families with many different needs.
To give a quick idea of my further back history; before my current job, I worked with older teenagers in a residential setting for three years. I have also co-taught a creative writing course at the college level. For a more complete idea of the kinds of skills I can bring to your home, please ask to see my resume. I am available for phone or skype interviews, and hope that you will get in touch with me! Thank you and have a lovely day!
