I am currently a student at Loyola University of Chicago. It is my third year studying to obtain a degree in elementary education with a concentration of English and ESL.

My experience with children began when I started to babysit for various families. I have been babysitting for seven years now and believe that I have a great connection with kids! I have the energy to keep up with children and make sure to provide engaging activities. I enjoy arts and crafts, games, sports and I especially like being outdoors.

A few of my favorite experiences with children include my job as a snowboard instructor and the recent classroom experience I have gained. From 2008-2010, I was a snowboard instructor for a ski and snowboarding group. I facilitated group lessons for ages 6-13. Because I was teaching 2-5 kids at one time, I learned how to manage and control multiple kids at once. I was provided the opportunity to teach children in an unique context. It was a great experience that led me to my passion for teaching.

During this past school semester (September 2012 - December 2012) my major required me to spend five weeks in a third grade classroom. It was my biggest challenge with children yet, but I successfully overcame it. I assisted a teacher to manage and instruct a class of 21 students with a variety of learners.

Both of these experiences highlight some of the great interactions I have had with children. I hope to find a family that I can establish a relationship with, one that feels comfortable with me and one that I feel comfortable with. I look forward to the great opportunities that lie ahead. What better opportunities than to help others and while learning from it also!
