I am the eldest of four siblings, one of which has Down syndrome, and have naturally been a babysitter from the age of 13. My brother who has Down's naturally required some special attention. I was raised in a military family, and was therefore supplied with an opportunity to baby-sit children from families with many different types of backgrounds. It was a wonderful experience. During my high school years, I also volunteered time in the Special education classrooms, playing with the children, doing story time, and helping with art.

In 2007, I took part in an internship at Disney World and was given the chance to take part in a volunteer effort for the a foundation, during which on Sundays, volunteers from Disney World went to the hotels provided and took care of the children, giving the parents a much needed rest. We held ice cream sundae parties for the children from the foundation, played games, read stories, and provided entertainment. It was my favorite part of the internship.

I was previously employed at a preschool dedicated to the care of physically, mentally, and behaviorally underdeveloped children. At any given time I was in charge of four children, and responsible for their care, and the effort to help them achieve set goals for their development. For about five months in 2011, I was part time nanny for a friend of the family, whose children I have been babysitting for years. They needed help with their infant daughter, and in addition to spending two to three days a week in my care, she often spent one weekend a month with me.

I am passionate about my work and I adore being around children. I have fully rounded experience helping with children of special needs, and dealing with infants as young as three months.
