I love kids! I come from a family of five kids and tons of cousins. I've watched my little brother, age 10, who has Aspergers (high functioning Autism), and I can handle his issues with patience and understanding. The two of us get along, are able to enjoy quality moments and have lots of fun together. We play board games, play video games, mold clay figures, paint and color pictures, and occasionally bake. I also help out my cousins with their kids all the time. My cousin Karen has twin boys and they can be a handful, but are always fun. They are both about to turn 2, but I have been helping her since they were around 3 months old. They are fun to run around with and play games, like peek-a-boo and catch. I've also helped my cousin Mandy with her two girls. The oldest is 5 now, she is adorable and curious; the youngest is about to turn 1 and is such a charmer. The oldest has a wild imagination and loves pretending she is a super hero or other various characters. The youngest is extremely observant and loves to play with noisemaker toys and bang on things like drums. I have also been an assistant teacher for my Mom in our church 's cradle roll class. There are children from ages 6 months to 2 years. We entertain them with different toys and songs. They love songs where they get to hold a mirror or a toy that squeaks or makes animal sounds. A skill I can offer is my knowledge of American Sign Language; this is definitely a great skill for both hearing and Deaf children (and adults). This helps a child communicate what they want earlier than speech development. Aside from this I am also enrolled in a child development class, not yet completed, which helps me know what stage a child is at and how to care for them specifically. This class helps me know what activities a child of a certain age might enjoy while also aiding their development. I feel it is important to know I am certified in CPR and First Aid. I am currently enrolled with Grossmont College and intend on becoming a pastry chef.
