I babysat my neighbors kids when I was 15 years old, during the evening and they were ages 3 & 6. My duties were playing games, read books, help with homework, feed them dinner/snack, and get them ready for bed. At 18, I took care of a 17-month-old full-time at home. My duties were feedings throughout the day, taking out for walks, baths, and naps. At age 22, I started working at a school as a floater. I worked with different age groups and found myself very motivated in a classroom setting ranging from toddlers to Pre-K. After 9 months I was able to work with a teacher in the 3 - 5 year-old classroom as a teacher's asst. I helped provide materials for children to work and play with story time, helped them to write their names, recognize letters, counting, concepts, art projects, and help with naps. I started to work in a Pre-K class by myself with a class of 12 after 3 months. I talked to parents about their child's day and progress. I stopped working with children in 2009 to be a stay-at-home mom. I'm looking to possibly take my son along with me on assignment so that he can have interactions with children his age and build everyone's self esteem.
