I am a current student at California State University, Sacramento, majoring in Psychology, with a minor in Child Development. I believe people develop most in their youth so it's imperative to have a strong support system while growing up. I can successfully support children with their emotional, intellectual, and social growth.
Along with my education, I have gained experience working with children through both paid and voluntary work. I currently work as a Classroom Student Assistant at a children's center where I interact with children (ages 3-5), while encouraging them to experience new interests and take responsibility for their actions. I assist in routine activities such as meals, naps, diapering, and toiling and participate in observing and documenting children's performance. I also volunteer as a teaching assistant at a school for the third grade class, where I tutor and assist children individually or in groups to help them master assignments and learn unfamiliar concepts. I also continue to babysit twins, weekly, since they've been born.
Furthermore, I used to babysit (child sit - she wasn't exactly a baby) a girl for 3+ years, until she reached middle school. I picked her up from school then brought her back to her house where I assisted with homework, chores, and the making of light meals until her parents got home. Sometimes, I would take her to her extra curricular activities (such as soccer practices, girl scouts, etc.). During the summer (when she didn't have school or homework), we had much more time to engage in other activities. We would take walks around the neighborhood, swim, play outdoors (soccer, basketball, tether ball), bake, do crafts and partake in many other fun activities.
I've had experience watching children of all ages and hope to be able be apart of your child's life well.
