My mom had an in home day care when I was a child and it has impacted me by making me driven and determined to help other children grow, learn and develop in a healthy, positive, encouraging environment. I had a high level of interest in child development classes when I attended community college. I took the majority of ECE and FAM classes available this even included sign language for children. I received my transfer degree with honors. Continuing onto college I received my degree in psychology where the bulk of my classes were in children and adolescent psychology, behavior, development and culture. I received a minor in sexuality studies which covered a wide range of children to adult behaviors, disorders and development. I graduated with my BA and honors. I am currently working with 8-month-old to 7-year-old children. I have outstanding knowledge about children development which has helped me be very successful at my current job. I take great care in documenting children's progress and uniqueness. I prepare healthy snack and lunch and assist children with toileting, eating and sleeping. I prepare age appropriate activities and dialogue with the children. I use theories and both traditional and non traditional styles of teaching to guide children to their fullest potential. My knowledge about cultural differences and development are carried out in a child led environment. I take great care in providing a safe and inviting environment for each child and make appropriate accommodations to help each individual feel important, successful and able. I create a safe and trusting relationship with each child in order to promote growth and development.
