I started my care giving experience when my little sister was born. It became my responsibility to not only care for my sister when my parents were away, but to also tutor and guide her through any assignments that were taught at her school. Caring for my sister throughout the years helped strengthen my patience and multitasking skills that were weak before her arrival on earth. Caring for my sister gave me the opportunity to learn the importance of responsibility and attentiveness. A small mistake can certainly cause great damage, especially dealing with children. I sometimes hold play-dates with my sister and her friends, which involve taking them to the pool, to play on the playground, or just go out and have a big scoop of ice cream.

I have spent some time also caring for mentally challenged children and adults. My neighbor has a mentally challenged son who called me his "little sister". I would watch over him when he would go swimming in his pool, and sometimes help him write a song. Me and his older sister recently planned his 28th birthday party, and all of his friends accompanied him. It was me and my friend's responsibility to give them extra attention and care because of the excitement that they had.

I am an active member of the Health Pre-Professional Organization at my college. We do many community services around town, and most of them are at a preschool for under-privileged children. I would read to the children and do many arts-and-crafts with them.
