Hi there. First of all, I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I recently moved back to Taunton after spending the last couple of years in NC. I am currently working for a wonderful family with five children in Mansfield, MA during the week. At this time, I am looking for some extra weekend work.
I have been taking care of children since before I entered high school. I grew up in a house where my mom was always willing to help out people and I am the same way. Throughout the past several years, I have worked with adults with mental illness, adolescent girls within the DSS system and young children (age newborn and up). I have worked with multiples (triplets) and children with special needs (Autism, Down syndrome, Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum). I spent a summer with a family who had two preteen girls, one of whom had just been adopted from Russia. She could not speak any English when she first arrived here and she also had emotional and behavioral issues. Working with her was very challenging at times but it was also incredibly rewarding. I believe, that everything that happens to a child in their young life affects who they become as adults. There needs to be nurturing, fun, limits and consistency.
