I've always enjoyed taking care of children, even from a young age. When I was 12 years old in junior high, I babysat my 2 cousins, who were 4 and 5 years old at the time, for my aunt, about every few weeks, on the weekends. From a young age I learned how crucial responsibility and attentiveness factor into babysitting children. Arriving at least 20-30 minutes early is always very helpful for parents in order for me to be informed of any safety precautions, and of course important phone numbers in case any unexpected conflicts occur. I have undoubtedly, always respected the parents rules and routines for their household and children. I also believe that having patience and staying calm is key with children and especially comes into play if they have any separation anxiety from being away from their parents. While it is very important to constantly be aware of where the child is and what they are doing, it is just as important to have an enjoyable and fun time with the child to help them feel comfortable while their parents are gone.
