I am currently a student at Sacramento State University, majoring in child development and minoring in counseling. I will be graduating in December 2012. My experience with children began when I was a freshman in highschool when I started babysitting. Throughout high school, I also volunteered as a camp counselor at a vacation bible school every summer, where I led a group of children through a series of games and activities. When I was a senior in high school, I was given a wonderful opportunity to be an intern in a second grade classroom throughout the school year. It was through this experience that I discovered how much I wanted to work with children and that I wanted to pursue an education in child development. During my time going to community college, I worked at a childcare with children from the ages of six weeks to 12 years old. I absolutely loved this job, however I had to leave in order to move to Sacramento for school. Since transferring to CSUS a year ago, I have learned a great deal about children and how they learn and develop. Now, I feel I have the knowledge as well as the experience I need to be a great sitter. My goals for my future career include attending graduate school to become a school counselor. I am currently a full time student but I have plenty of time I would like to spend gaining more experience working with children. I am looking for a regular, weekly job.
