I have been caring for children, for well over 25 yrs, I started babysitting when I was 15. When I worked at McDonald's, I was a hostess and enjoyed doing old fashioned birthday parties, playing games with the children, like stacking cups, pass the mac (hot potato). And Simon says. I know the kids and the parents always enjoyed the birthday parties because I told the parents to sit and relax and let me take care of the kids.
I had an experience with 2 children who used to cry and scream when mom and dad left, but they soon discovered it was fun hanging out with Paula when mom left for work.
I used to babysit a boy from the age of newborn up to 8. My niece and nephews always loved coming over every weekend to spend time. I ALWAYS make a point to spend quality time with my little and older niece and nephews when I visit family.
Even my past roommates nephews loved to have me watch them.
A friend of mine jokingly calls my the child whisperer.
