Hello, my name is Nicole. I am a 26 years old student trying to work my way through college. I am taking day classes 3 or 4 days a week for only 3 hours. I have nine years of personal experience of working with children of all ages. I will give you a brief list of my experiences.
In 2003-2005 (my Junior and Senior year of high school) I was in the Early Childhood Development program at Kent Roosevelt High School. In this program we controlled our very own day care center with activities and meal times. We also had field experience where we were placed in a school (in grades that we choose). Each field experience was three months long. I choose to be in the following grades: Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 6th grade and a learning group (a day care center).
After completing high school in 2005, I began working full time at a daycare. I began working in the pre-k room (ages 4-5). I worked mostly in this room until I got a promotion to be a Lead Teacher in the Early Preschool Classroom (ages 2-3). This is where I got my nickname, the potty training queen. Although I spent most of my time in this room I was always able to move into any room and adapt to any age and needs. I gained experience with children ages 6 weeks through school age (ages 6-13) while working at this daycare. I have also been a nanny. I absolutely love this job. I cared for three children ages 2, 5, and 6. I am responsible for getting them ready for school, taking them to school, planning activities for them, cooking lunch, nap times, and just being there for them when they need a lap to sit on. I love children. I have always said that I wanted to work with children. From the time I was five and I was writing all over my wall with chalk (pretending it was my chalk board and I was the teacher) and grading make believe "homework".
