I am very interested in childcare careers. I recently graduated from. Bowie State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and I plan on owning my own daycare in the near future. I have worked with kids for a majority part of my life and I truly love every minute of it. My first job was in high school working at a day care in Goldston, NC. After graduating from high school I moved to Maryland and became more involved in childcare. I was a manager at a catering company where we provided breakfast and lunch to private schools and daycares. I shortly begin working for World Strides in Arlington, VA. World Strides is a touring company for middle school through high school kids. While at World Strides I worked in the field with groups of kids touring the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area making sure they had transportation, lodging and food. World Strides was a seasonal job so after that was over I worked at the 24 hr. World Gym in Bowie, MD as the lead daycare provider. While working at the gym I was responsible for taking care of children ages 3 months old up to 16 years old. My duties ranged from one on one 's with babies to games with the younger children and group exercises with the older kids. When I graduated from Bowie State I moved to Siler City, NC and I worked at First Missionary Baptist Church for their Summer Enrichment Program "If I Can Read, I Can Win". I was the 3rd grade teacher where I taught math, language arts, science, cursive handwriting and other vital subjects to rising 3rd graders. I currently volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club in Siler City, NC. I perform different task at the boys and girls club, some days I work one on one with kids to help them with homework and some days I work with groups of kids in different areas such as reading, math, art and game time. I love working with kids of all ages and backgrounds and I have experience working with special needs kids. I am currently looking for employment working with children because working with kids is what I enjoy doing. I completed Allied Health in high school and received certification in First Aid, CPR, CNA license, however I did not pursue a career in that field.
