I hope this letter helps you to know me a little better. My name is Monique, I am 24 years old and I was born in a small town in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I am friendly, outgoing, patient, creative and responsible. I have a good sense of humor and I love to laugh. If there are any problems in my life or in my friends' lives, I try my best to handle and to solve them as fast as possible. I also have no problem adapting myself in new situations.

My involvement with children began when I was 12 years old when I started to give lessons to children in the church where I attended. I was with them every Sunday morning and some Sunday nights. The children were aged 1 to 10 years old. I've been with them for 10 years so I met many babies that are now teenagers and it's very good passing by them in the street. They remember me and what we did together. After I graduated, I moved to the state of Sao Paulo where I lived for 1.5 years working and living. It was one of the most important experiences in my life because I learned about responsibility, organization and schedules. Although I was living in Sao Paulo alone, I had some relatives who lived nearby. One has an adopted son (a very smart boy) that I took care of on weekends and during the period when I was unemployed. I took care of him from when he was five months until he was 1 year and 5 months when he went to a day care center. The reason I stopped taking care of him was the wife of an uncle had a baby and asked me to help with the children. So, I started to take care of the newborn and a 4-year-old. I stayed with them for five months until I needed to return to live in Rio de Janeiro and now I'm taking care of a sweet girl who is 1-year-old.

I decided to be an Au pair because I needed to improve my English. So, this was an opportunity to improve my English language skills doing something that I love. It is a great chance to know a new country and a new culture.

I know how much we can influence a child's life and always try to be a good example.

Currently, I take care of a 3-year-old girl and a boy of 18 months.
