At my home in Kansas, my official title among friends and family is "the kid whisperer" or the more formal "pied piper" (of children). I absolutely adore working with kids of all ages and I love finding a way to connect with each child on an individual basis. I understand the need for a child to be understood and taken seriously so my "magic" way of connecting with them is to make sure I express that I am on the same level as they are. I don't dismiss them or doubt them but I try to listen and treat them as I would any other person. Now, as for my formal work with children, I worked at Operation Breakthrough a cost-free daycare for the underprivileged for over 4 years. I ran my own classroom for 10 months with 15 3 to 4-year-olds and also worked with a range from newborns to kindergarten age. I planned curriculum, meals, playtime, and counseling. I am CPR and first aid certified. Ultimately, I love kids and want to incorporate that into my future career. They see magic and possibilities and being around that excitement for makes me want to be better.
