I began babysitting at the age of 11 for various families in my home town. I babysat children with special needs such as phycial and mental disabilities, ADD/ADHA, Aspergers/Autism and Down Syndrome. I have babysat for various numbers at one time (1-6 in a family) of various ages (0-12 years)
I prefer babysitting in the home of the children because they are most familiar with the environment. I always show up a little bit early to get to know the kids and any instructions from the parents. Besides the well being, health and safety of the kids, I also make sure the house is as clean or cleaner than when the parents left. This is a philosophy that my mom instilled in me when I first began babysitting and I continue it til this day.
I am not currently certified in CPR or First Aid but I have been in the past when I worked at a youth camp. Throughout my years in college, I worked in an elementary school as a teacher's aid and working directly with the students. I also worked at an after school program for elementary school children. Currently I am a middle school math and science teacher. Even though I work with "older" kids I enjoy kids of all ages. They all bring something special to life.
