I have quite a lot of experience working with children. I have babysat many of my younger cousins, including 4-year-old twin boys, a 6-year-old girl and the most recently, a family friend's 2-month-old infant. I was enrolled in a Regional Occupations Program for Careers in Education my senior year of high school. This consisted of 100+ volunteer hours of on-job training at Creative Beginnings, which is a local private christian school I was placed at to aide the instructors in the classroom as well as on the playground. I was hired immediately for an additional 3 years following as a Teachers Aide/Substitute for K-5th grade. During this time I was also employed at West Middle School through Downey Unified School District as an AVID Tutor for 7-8th grade for 2 years. So I can say with absolute confidence that I love working with kids and I would like to get back into it. The only reason I left in the first place was due to budget cuts and low enrollment, they could no longer employ the aides and tutors. I currently work in retail as a part time key-holder, however, I am looking for a full time position working with children. The availability I have listed is negotiable, the website requires you to fill in the area. I have 4 units in Child Development but will be continuing to advance in Child Development in Fall 2011.
