Migdalia P.

Migui currently works part-time with us and she's great. I have an 8-month-old baby girl whose face lights up when she sees Migui (and her arms and legs start flailing and kicking in excitement, too). Migui is very interactive with her - she reads to her, describes pictures and sings (in both Spanish and English - I speak Spanish myself and I can attest Migui is perfectly fluent in both languages), she gets down on the floor to play and works on developmental milestones/activities with her (i.e. rolling/tumbling, sitting, walking). I had been trying to teach my baby to roll from tummy to back for a month (she could go from back to tummy but couldn't go back) and after 4 hours with Migui, she learned how to do it! After just a few days, she became a pro and shortly after started tumbling all over the living room. Migui also takes my baby for walks to the park for fresh air and to learn about the world around her (watching other kids play, looking at dogs at the doggie park, learning about fruits and vegetables at the grocery store, etc). She also feeds her (bottle and solids), puts down for naps (yay!), and cleans and takes care of baby bottles, spoons, dishes, as well as bibs, clothes, crib sheets, towels, etc. She is very nurturing and you can tell she really loves spending time with kids. She's honest and trustworthy. I couldn't have asked for a better nanny.

Migdalia is currently our full-time nanny and we love her! She is wonderful with our now 3-month-old son (who was 8 weeks old when she started). She comes in Monday through Friday and works with our son on physical development (playing in the baby gym, works on tummy time, helps him do head raises/rolling over) and verbal development (reads to him daily, sings English and Spanish songs to him and talks/laughs with him). She also makes sure to go outside for walks on the days that its possible - if the weather is nice and the schedule permits. I really appreciate the fact that Migui is comfortable in the city and explores our downtown neighborhood and gets our baby fresh air. My son lights up and smiles every morning when she arrives and I always return home from work to a nicely dressed, clean and happy baby. Migdalia really does enjoy her job and I can tell she truly cares about the well-being of my son. She had never used cloth diapers before working with us but was more than willing and happy to use them since that was our preference. She also washes his baby clothes/blankets/sheets and cloth diapers a few times a week which is super helpful to a working mom like me! She cleans and disinfects all of my son's bottles and small toys/pacifiers so that they are safe for him to use. Usually I get home and a few more bottles are made up for the evening feedings - this is very helpful. On top of all the things that Migdalia does for our son, she is a very loving, happy, kind-hearted, positive person. She has a good personality and finds humor in things. It calms my nerves and anxieties to know there is someone so special looking after my baby. I also should mention that recently our son was sick with a yucky cold and Midgalia had no problem dealing with the symptoms and giving him lots of cuddles to help him feel better. Baby's first cold is the worst so we were happy she felt comfortable caring for a sick baby. More recently, she has been sending me quick updates via text (messages and photos) on how my son is doing throughout the day and this really makes me happy! I am so happy to just hear that he is doing good or a short note about what they did today. Since the day Migdalia started working for us, she has taken the time to make detailed notes about all the thing she and my son do throughout the day, including food intake, naps, activities, and diapers. This is so incredibly helpful and also nice to read at the end of the day. It gives me a little insight on how the day went, even if I don't return home from work before my husband. I cannot say enough good things about Migdalia. We are very thankful we found her and have had the pleasure of working with her. :)

Migdalia (Migui, as we all call her), is wonderful with children and has the ability to communicate with them in a very unique way. I highly recommend her to teach and care for children on any level of development. She is also a very caring and nurturing parent with a bright and intelligent daughter, who is in medical school because of all the support and excellent parenting of Migui. I have known her for a few years and attend the same community church. We have actively served in outreach programs that include feeding of the homeless and committee planning of young adult events. She is resourceful, loyal and honest and a pleasure to be around. Larry Thompson
