For the past 10 years my parents have adopted and fostered many children, most with special needs. I love children and have been helping my family take care of many over the years from ages infant and up. I am a very patient and loving person. I am reliable, trustworthy and my schedule is very flexible. I am very family oriented, kind-hearted and giving. I was a PCA for my adopted brother who is severely autistic and non-verbal, for many years. We spent a lot of time learning and using his picture book to communicate, as well as learning his colors, shapes, letters and numbers. He loves playing outdoors, so we spent many days at the park getting exercise and having fun as well. I also was a PCA for a 25-year-old male with CP. I was responsible for keeping his apartment clean, doing his laundry, taking him grocery shopping, helping him get dressed and ready for work but also spent a lot of time as his companion. We went to movies, out to dinner, shopping, sporting events and so much more. I find care giving to be extremely rewarding in more than one way. I feel like I am not only doing good for another person in need but mostly spending time with them has made me a better person and has made me appreciate life so much more. I have a passion to work with children with disabilities and hope to go to school in the Fall for Early Childhood Education. Although I prefer to work with children and young adults with special needs, I am open to provide the service of caregiver to children and adults outside of special needs as well.
