Michelle S.

Michelle was our nanny during the 2012-2013 school and into the 2013 summer. She is responsible, highly dependable and mature beyond her years. She brings warmth, kindness, stability and values to our family, and we are sad to leave her. Michelle values development and learning, and understands the impact of reading, art, outdoor activity and music on child development. She encourages ethical behavior, responsibility and accountability in our boys by both her own example and (in the case of our oldest son), teaching through the opportunities life presents. Michelle has a rare emotional maturity and spiritual depth that compliment her commitment and dedication to our children. With two working parents, our family keeps a fast pace that can be somewhat chaotic but Michelle's calm and consistent manner lends stability to our entire family. When my husband or I travel, we feel very comfortable knowing the boys are in Michelle's care; she often translates our travels into learning opportunities for our oldest son and minimizes the emotional impact of our absence on the baby. Michelle is a perfect fit for our family's motto: "work hard, have fun, be kind." Michelle's duties included childcare, food prep and light baby-related housework (laundry, dishwasher, etc.). Childcare included daily walks, reading, music and opportunities for learning and creativity (no TV). We also relied on Michelle to drive developmental skills and benchmarks for the baby. She often picked up our oldest son from Montessori and took our baby to the museum or on other excursions. Michelle makes fresh food for the boys daily and helps us ensure they eat a balanced, healthy diet. Michelle also brought her daughter with her to work at our house. While I was initially hesitant about having another child in the house, it worked wonderfully for us. Our baby learned from her daughter and our oldest son loved having a little sister. Michelle and I solved any issues arising from conflicting parenting styles by open and honest communication. Michelle's ability to manage multiple kids with consistent success is a remarkable talent. We have had several nannies and childcare providers but none who left our family better than when they joined it.
