Hi! My name is Melissa, and I am just about to finish my sixth semester at Indiana University. Originally, I am from a western suburb of Chicago where I lived with my parents, two younger sisters and our two pets (one cat and one dog). However, for the past three years I have been working towards a degree in Secondary English Education as well as English as a New Language. In my spare time, I am an active member of a sorority, take part in activities related to Indiana University Dance Marathon and hold several part-time jobs. It is my hope to eventually teach English/Language Arts in either a middle school or a high school. I love working with children, and some of my favorite pastimes include reading, playing sports, making crafts and baking.

In the past, I life-guarded and taught swim lessons for two years and have been certified in both First Aid and CPR. Also, this past year, I have worked as a substitute teacher for the Bloomington Schools, attended classes in two local middle schools once a week, and have been an assistant cheer-leading coach at an area high school. All of these experiences have allowed me to learn more about children and develop my ability to act as a respectful, creative and energetic authority figure while simultaneously creating a positive, friendly and enjoyable environment.

This summer, I will be staying in Bloomington and have access to my own transportation. Also, I have a completed certified background check on file and references available by request if necessary.
